اس نے دیکھا کہ ایک شخص مسجد کے صحن میں سر پر چادر اوڑھے پڑا ہے۔ پہلے تو اس نے سوچا کہ وہاں کون ہو سکتا ہے۔ مولوی صاحب نے انہیں ایک بار پھر ہلایا

اس نے مزید کیا کہا، "اٹھو بھائی۔ 

آپ کس وجہ سے کہیں گے کہ آپ یہاں رو رہے ہیں؟ اس کے لیے بات کرنے کا وقت گزر چکا تھا۔ اس نے اپنے سر سے غلاف ہٹایا۔ ہر طرف دھبے تھے۔ اسے کسی نے مارا تھا، اس کی آستین پھٹ گئی تھی اور آستین سے خون بہہ رہا تھا جیسے اسے کوئی گہری چوٹ لگی ہو۔

مولوی صاحب نے حیرانی سے پوچھا، "لڑکی، تم کون ہو؟ تم کس وجہ سے کہو گے کہ تم یہاں رہ رہی ہو؟ فوراً وہ لڑکی گھبرا گئی اور کچھ نہ بولی، البتہ جب مولوی صاحب نے ایک بار پھر پوچھا تو وہ اجازت دینے لگی۔ میں جانتا ہوں کہ میں کرن ہوں اور ہارون آباد کے ایک قصبے سے آیا ہوں۔ ٹھیک ہے، بٹیا، پھر بھی آپ کس وجہ سے کہیں گے کہ آپ یہاں سے دور جا رہے ہیں؟

نوجوان عورت نے کہا

، مولوی صاحب، میرے بہنوئی نے ہمارے شہر میں ایک غلط کام پیش کیا۔

تجارت کے لیے جس کے لیے پنچایت نے مجھے غنی کو دینے کا انتخاب کیا۔ میں اس کے لیے تیار نہیں تھا۔ میرے رشتہ داروں نے مجھے مارا لیکن میں نے قبول نہیں کیا۔ کوئی نہیں چھوڑ سکتا۔ نوجوان خاتون کی بات سن کر مولوی صاحب خیال کرنے لگے کہ اس نوجوان کو اس طرح یہاں نہیں رکھا جا سکتا۔ کیا نوجوان خاتون کے پاس اتنا چھوٹا سا پیک تھا؟

کرن کو پھیکی نظروں سے دیکھ رہا تھا۔
